flowers of my allegories
Pulp paint, handmade paper (kozo, abaca, cotton)
22” x 23”
2023
This piece captures the essence of this transformative moment through the medium of pulp painting on kozo paper. The upper paper sheet, crafted from a blend of abaca and ctotton, is meticulously cut to form the figure, while the figure itself is rendered in another sheet of kozo paper. This deliberate choice creates a striking interplay of opacity, heightening the contrast between the qualities of each paper type. The composition invites viewers to contemplate the duality of emotions inherent in grief: the weight of loss juxtaposed with the fragile tendrils of hope.
